PSO2 might have gotten into the news for the wrong reason yesterday, but here’s some actual good news: we now have a date for the Global Closed beta test for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis.
The Global Closed Beta Test will take place on May 14 (May 15 9AM Malaysian Time, +8 GMT) and ends on May 17 10 AM +8 GMT.
This first round of Global Closed Beta Test is only available on Windows 10 PCs, via the Microsoft Store, however. No luck for those on Steam.
You can sign up for the PSO2 NGS Global CBT starting on April 22, 1AM +8 GMT via the Xbox Insider Hub.
Playing the Global CBT will net you a participation reward. Though only a limited number of players will be brought in on a first come, first served basis.
PSO2 NGS is essentially a whole new game based on PSO2 (not just a new expansion), with new systems, new traversal and combat mechanics, and an “open-field” map and more. The only reason it isn’t branded as a new game is that it’s still connected to the base PSO2 game, and you can switch back-and-forth between the two games.
PSO2 is free-to-play and available globally on Xbox One and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store). PSO2 NGS should be available on the same platforms, and will be coming later this year.
