Sega announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will be getting a closed beta test for the rest of the world, coming soon.
In Japan, a closed beta test for PSO2 NGS was conducted recently and a second CBT is happening this weekend.
Players on the global version will also be given a chance to try out the completely new version of PSO2 (that will co-exist with the original PSO2). There’s no exact information on when and where to register just yet, but stay tuned to the official PSO2 Global channels for more info.
This info was revealed on the second PSO2 NGS Prologue stream (which has a translated English dub you can watch below). While the first stream gives a glimpse of what to expect on New Genesis, the second goes to properly unveil new mechanics and features that only CBT players got to discover first-hand. There’s a Destiny-style power level score called Battle Power this time!
The stream also has the development team respond to player feedback. From the results shown, it really is a new experience (fans were not quite sold on the slower-tempo of the game compared to the current state of PSO2). Though the devs have outlined what’s to be fixed based on the feedback that will appear in Japan’s CBT 2, or coming at or right after launch. Like how easy it is to have the inventory filled up.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will be released later this year.
