Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Passes 1 Million USD On Kickstarter, Will Add Turn-Based Combat Mode

Good news. The Kickstarter campaign for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is doing really well. In fact, they have successfully crowdfunded over 1 million USD with 26 days to go. Nine stretch goals which include the addition of a new race, new class, new companion, more Mythic Paths and limb dismemberment, has been achieved.

Following the good news, Owlcat Games announced that combat for Wrath of the Righteous will have a turn-based mode, alongside the regular real-time with pause mode.

Turn-based combat is one of the most requested features by fans. In fact, there is already a mod by Hsunyu for its predecessor, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, that changed it to turn-based.

Owlcat Games Head of Studio Oleg Shpilchevskiy specifically namedropped the modder as inspiration for how they will implement turn-based mode for Wrath Of The Righteous. “We want to thank the mod community for all the work they did with Pathfinder: Kingmaker,” he said. “We took inspiration from Hsunyu’s modification, which added a turn-based mode to the game.

“The players liked it so much that with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, we have received a large number of messages from the community eager to play Wrath of the Righteous with [turn-based mode]. In fact, we have been working on it for quite some time, and the plan was to announce it later once a demo was going to be playable.

“But with all the enthusiasm in the community, we decided to share it now. Our focus remains the same, the new game is designed to be played in real-time with pause, but if you want to go turn-based, you will have such an option.”

The Kickstarter campaign for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is still ongoing and will end on March 11th. The game itself is expected to be released in June 2021 for PC via Steam and GOG.
