Path Of Exile New Expansion Brings Town Upgrading Gameplay, Major Class Rework And More

The latest expansion to free-to-play ARPG Path Of Exile has been revealed. Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur will see something completely different in the new Settlers Challenge League, as well as major changes to some classes and many other changes.

The Settlers Challenge League tasks you to help build the town of Kingsmarch and establish trade. So you will be accumulating gold and resources to build various town infrastructures, and then later start establishing trade routes that will earn sweet, sweet loot.

Interestingly, the town upgrades operate on a real-world timer which can range between mere minutes to even half a day long. There are ways to minimise the wait time via gameplay by recruiting and placing skilled workers. Though for more casual players, you can take your time hopping in and out of the league from time to time as you accumulate resources.

The Settlers Challenge League will have three endgame bosses. They arrive later on once the town is thriving and will start capturing your workers, which you can attempt to rescue (and face the boss), pay a ransom, or just abandon them.

The new Settlers Challenge League can be accessed right after the tutorial is unlocked, so even new players can take a look at the new feature. Though you will need a lot of gold to really make any progress.

Alongside the new Challenge League, the Settlers Of Kalguur update changes how melee and rage mechanics work, as well as melee changes and major rework on the Gladiator Ascendancy (class). The Warden Ascendency has been scrapped entirely to be replaced with the Raider.

In addition, there are also improvements to the native PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Path Of Exile on consoles.

This was all revealed in a lengthy 45-minute video debuted as a livestream, like past Path Of Exile expansions/updates have.

The full patch notes can be found here. It’s a long, long scroll.

This new Challenge League and the major reworks included shows that Path Of Exile still has room to grow despite a sequel, also free-to-play, is coming out.

Path Of Exile Settlers Of Kalguur update goes live on July 27 on PC and consoles.
