Outriders Getting A Huge Free Update That Reworks The Endgame, Teases First Expansion

It’s been a while since we heard about People Can Fly’s looter-shooter Outriders. It’s a good game, with some rough technical and balance issues early at launch.

We got some major news of its latest free update coming later today, November 16. The New Horizon update brings some new features and more endgame content.

The big change is that expeditions, the endgame mode, has no timers anymore. Previously, the faster you clear the expeditions the better loot reward you will get, which leads to everyone optimising their builds for more DPS and renders tanks worthless.

Clearing an expedition faster won’t give you better rewards anymore- but you can time your runs optionally if you wish.

The other is the addition of a transmogrification system. This lets you change the appearance of any gear you want to any other gear you have previously collected. This even applies to class-restricted gear. You can have your Trickster don the appearance of one of the Devastator-only armour pieces, the example from the spotlight video showed.

Unlike some other looter-shooter, Outriders’ transmog system won’t require any resource to use, real money or otherwise. You unlock the cosmetic change just by collecting the gear, and you can transmog your gear however many times you like.

There are also four new expedition maps on offer as well. And a change in how legendary loot drops work, plus letting you re-roll the legendary loot drops available from Tiago.

You can find an overview of the new changes coming with the New Horizon update here.

When the New Horizon update drops, players can also get a free legendary armour piece, one which they have yet to earn (no dupes). The offer ends on November 30.

Lastly, People Can Fly also teased the next expansion for Outriders, titled Worldslayer, coming next year.

Outriders is also currently on sale on Steam, at a ridiculous price discount of 67%, dropping it to RM77.22. The game is available right now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You can find what we thought of the game at launch in our review here.
