People Can Fly’s upcoming looter-shooter Outriders will get a demo soon, and has since shared more information about it in a thread of twenty-ish tweets.
First, this is a proper demo. Given that Outriders is an online-only multiplayer-focused game with live services, one would assume this is just a fancy way to say ‘open beta’. But no, it really is demo. There’s no end date, and the demo will continue to be available once the full game is released.
And like a proper demo, it’s not a pre-order bonus. No purchase is necessary to play it.
The Outriders demo goes live exactly on February 25, 5PM GMT (February 26, 1AM Malaysian Time, +8GMT) for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam) and streaming on Nvidia GeForce Now. No pre-loads are available, and the download size is roughly 24GB on PC and 22GB on consoles.
Cross-play, a feature being added which resulted in the game’s delayed launch, will also be available to use in the demo in beta form. You’ll need to opt-in for it, so check the settings.
The Outriders demo represents the early game, and ends with an encounter with Gauss. More side missions will be available after that, however. All four classes will be available (with each player having six character slots) in the demo, with a level cap of 7.
Should you purchase the full game later, you can transfer your demo progress as well. So long as it’s on the same platform (no cross-save). Steam and Epic Store are considered seperate platforms.
Lastly, you can stream the Outriders demo in full with no restrictions, but be cautious of the trailer that plays in the end of the demo which uses copyrighted music.
So, you (and optionally your two co-op buddies) can try out the Outriders demo whenever you want after it drops on February 25, it will be around for a while.
Outriders will be out on April 1 on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia.
