Despite No Man’s Sky disappointing launch after a long trail of unsurmountable hype, the game continues to be worked on, three years on. For 2019, there is another big update coming to the procedurally-generated space exploration game, No Man’s Sky Beyond.
As Hello Games explained in the Playstation Blog, this is supposed to be three different update features rolled into one and it will all drop sometime this summer (June-August).
The first component of this Beyond update is called No Man’s Sky Online. A new social and multiplayer.
“While this brings people together like never before, and has many recognizable online elements,” Hello Games’ Sean Murray explained, “we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO — it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.”
The last update, No Man’s Sky Next, adds co-op play up to four players, so most likely this will expand the number of players in one instance by a bit more.
No Man’s Sky Beyond will be, again, a free update for everyone. No Man’s Sky is available on PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One.
