A new trailer for EA and Koei Tecmo’s upcoming monster-hunting game Wild Hearts has dropped. It’s a CG trailer so no in-game footage here.
But the trailer does give a good overview of what to expect from developer Omega Force’s take on a Monster Hunter-like.
The trailer shines a spotlight not only on the ferocious kemono, monsters, that you will be facing. It also shows off the trick under each hunter’s sleeves, the karakuri tech that can be conjured on demand.
Karakuri is a Japanese word that describes mechanisms powered by natural means (usually without involving electricity), mostly used to describe puppets (karakuri puppets, as seen at the beginning of the trailer) or used in the manufacturing industry to describe machines and automation systems.
In Wild Hearts, karakuri are items you can conjure instantaneously to give you an advantage during battles.
And yes, not only does karakuri includes the ability to stack crates and jumping on gliders that would remind you of Fortnite, Wild Hearts apparently has karakrui unicycles too. An unexpected feature, some may even say, wild.
Wild Hearts has you hunt down kemono either solo or in a party of up to three players via online co-op (with cross-play support, but no cross-save). The game is set in Azuma, a fantasy land inspired by feudal Japan.
The game will include voice-over options in Japanese (as expected) alongside English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
The game is published under the EA Originals label, usually reserved for indie titles. Wild Hearts, however, is described to be of AAA quality- a big-budget, full-price video game.
Wild Hearts will be out on February 17 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App) and Xbox Series X|S.
