Remember Exodus? That one game that looked like Mass Effect when it was revealed at The Game Awards last year, only for it to be actually made by former Mass Effect developers? There’s a new trailer that released today, days after The Game Awards 2024, away from that busy new cycle.
Archetype Entertainment’s new sci-fi game really does scratch that Mass Effect itch by what they are showing in this gameplay trailer. Third-person camera. Gunplay. Alien-ish powers. Three-player party. Abundance of partial cover conveniently placed around an arena-like room. Quips.
There is something uniquely Exodus. Fighting armoured bears with glowing arm blades and stealth kills are on the menu here.
Exodus is developed by Archetype Entertainment with the backing of Wizards Of The Coast. You play Jun, a “Traveler”, people who can embark on the Exodus, time skipping ahead leaving the world behind and return a few generations later.
The new trailer is centered on “The Traveler’s Creed”, the mantra which Jun and his fellow Travelers follow to heart. And it’s actually a game mechanic—time skipping ahead will let you see the outcome of your actions, something an RPG on a AAA scale is in the position to attempt.
Exodus has no release date yet, but it’s coming to PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
