Back in the the 00’s the stealth genre was a heated battle between the grandiose Metal Gear Solid series and the more grounded Splinter Cell series. There’s a strong competition between the two stealth games featuring a gruff man sneaking behind enemy lines, but as we reach the current decade it sort of fizzle out- Splinter Cell was dormant for the last five years and after the release of Metal Gear Solid V, which saw the creative visionary behind it being unceremoniously ousted, Metal Gear may not just be the same anymore, evidently seen in Metal Gear Survive.
With the return of Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher for a one-off mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands, there’s a small tribute to Metal Gear’s Snake by the end of the mission. It’s fairly obvious by itself, but this edited video of the ending cutscene makes the delivery even better.
Spoiler alert for those wanted to play the mission themselves, which is free for everyone owning the copy. Wildlands is also has a free weekend if you wish to check it out yourselves.
