New Psychonauts 2 Trailer Sets Up The Platformer’s Story Beats

A new trailer for Double Fine’s long-awaited sequel to Psychonauts has been revealed. For those looking for a story motivation, and a primer on what to expect in this platforming adventure, you’ll need to see this.

The trailer shows off protagonist Raz, now officially a Psychonaut, on his first day on the job. And it’s already a big day ahead as we see the main villain, Maligula, and the rest of his teachers (no associates) reacting on the dangers ahead of their current mission.

It also gives a glimpse of what a Psychonaut does. With a well-thought-out description. “We’re not here to change people’s minds, not here to fix people. We’re here to help people fight their own demons”.

A Psychonaut can explore another person’s mind, but good to know Double Fine continues to treat the subject of mental health respectfully.

Psychonauts 2 will be out on August 25 for the PS4, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day-1 of the launch.
