New Magic: Legends Video Showcases Its Diablo-Like Gameplay

Magic: Legends was first revealed at The Game Awards, being an MMORPG adaptation of the Magic: The Gathering IP- the granddaddy of trading card games. Now we have a trailer that showcases some proper gameplay.

Surprisingly, it’s a top-down action RPG in the veins of Diablo, rather than your typical MMORPG style of play. The gameplay snippet show two classes of Planeswalker you can use, the Mind Mage that attacks from range using lock down spells and teleknesis, and the Geomancer that’s more in-your-face with their attacks, can take some damage with a rock shield and can summon creatures.

Not much of the MMO part of MMORPG is seen here, but hey, it’s gameplay for those that need to know.

The main Magic: Legends site teases another three Planeswalker classes you can pick. As you would expect, the classes have abilities tied to the five elements/colours synonymous with the series.

Magic: Legends doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but you can sign up for the beta here.
