New Hyenas Character Is A Sonic The Hedgehog Cosplayer

Creative Assembly is doing something completely different from their usual strategy games by making not a horror game (sorry Alien: Isolation fans) but a shooter, called Hyenas. The game revealed a new playable character at the February 2023 Future Games Show named Hero-Ki.

Hero-Ki is a cosplayer, and with that, he has the ability to “cosplay” as someone else using a modified camera which can capture that person’s likeness. This can be used to blend in, and hopefully not get caught as an impostor.

Also, Hero-Ki’s default look is him cosplaying as Sonic The Hedgehog.

Hyenas is unabashedly utilising pop culture as its main selling point- especially the IPs from Creative Assembly’s owners Sega. We’ve seen Sonic keychains before, now we have a guy pretending to be Sonic, carrying a gun.

Hyenas is a multiplayer, multi-team extraction shooter. Players go in Plunderships to collect loot, but also fight against other teams of real players, as well as NPC security forces. The sci-fi theme also means there’s zero-G shooting, giving off Lawbreakers vibes in the new trailer.

Hyenas is currently in alpha stage. A new alpha test is currently live until April 3, though only available for select regions.

Hyenas will be out on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox series X|S.
