New Hitman 2 gameplay has emerged as we get closer to its release date. The stealth/action murder experience will see some new gameplay mechanics added to the base formula from Hitman 2016. Also, gameplay mechanics from Hitman games of years past are also making a return.
In the second part of the “How To Hitman” official gameplay trailers, we get to see some of these in action. One is a much pronounced mini-map and UI. Yellow and red colour streaks help new players understand the level of danger Agent 47 is currently so you can adapt accordingly. Security cameras now have clear line of sight lines. This can be seen using the instinct mode where objectives, guards and now camera sight lines are highlighted.
Returning from past games is the picture-in-picture mode. Now, if a notification says an important event has happened, like a body was found, you know exactly how and where it is taken place, just like the good old days.
But that’s not all. At PAX West, IO Interactive had a presentation showing off the legacy Hitman levels (from Hitman 2016) plays in Hitman 2. Past levels will now have new Hitman 2 mechanics.
Grenades, tweaked foliage to allow stealth in them, blending in the crowd and even working mirrors where anyone can spot you from the reflection are coming in Hitman 2. One more returning mechanic is briefcases to conceal sniper rifles, also shown here:
Hitman 2 sneaks into stores on November 13th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
