Remember the crews in Need For Speed Carbon? In that game, you create your own crew and battle for turf against four main crews by winning racers. It’s an interesting gimmick, but it gives each AI racer some flair and identity rather than have them be some random cars you would ever take note of.
Need For Speed Payback is taking ques from this with Street Leagues. They are essentially various crews that operate at various part of Fortune Valley and specialise in specific racers.
Right now two of the Street Leagues have been revealed. One is Graveyard Shift, a crew that uses a lot of Día de Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) on their cars and focuses on races in the deserts and mountains of Fortune Valley.
The other is Riot Club. These are a crew of Korean-American drag racers that you will find in Boomville, Silver Rock.
There are 10 Street Leagues in total, each have a specific boss which we presume needed to be taken down.
Sounds promising. If executed well these Street Leagues would be a great way to handle progression throughout the single-player campaign.
Need For Speed Payback will be out on the PS4, PC and Xbox One on November 10.
