Never been into racing games or car games in general? If you never try one you never know. My First Gran Turismo, announced a few months back, is a free game that gives you a taste of Gran Turismo 7, for free.
My First Gran Turismo will be available on December 6 on PS4 and PS5, for free.
My First Gran Turismo is based on GT7, giving you a sampler size of the so-called Real Driving Simulator. It has 18 cars to collect, 3 tracks, 3 sets of license tests (for the uninitiated, think of them as tutorial challenges), 3 Music Rally challenges, and the ability to do single races, time trials and just practice driving around.
My First Gran Turismo also offers up PS VR2 support on PS5, so those with the headset that haven’t purchased GT7 can test drive its virtual reality feature.
The free game even has a progression system to encourage you to try everything it has to offer.
The 18 cars collected in My First Gran Turismo can be transferred over to Gran Turismo 7.
For GT7 veterans, My First Gran Turismo is essentially Gran Turismo 7 Prologue. It’s free, it’s limited in content (the game right now has more than 500 cars and almost 40 track locations), has a self-contained progression, and something to be enjoyed before beginning the full game.
There are some neat changes and some new content within My First Gran Turismo. All three Music Rally stages are unique. The one that has GT’s anthem Moon Over The Castle is done on Trial Mountain unlike in GT7 which had you drive the back end of Nürburgring 24H track (where you do indeed get to see a moon over the Nürburg castle).
The car selection UI has swapped out nerdy car specs for a simple 1-10 scale of its characteristics like racing games of yesteryears had.
And you can custom input your name on an offline high score, just like in the original Gran Turismo released in 1997. That’s 30 years ago, just like how old the PlayStation brand is.
