When Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis launches this June, the free-to-play MMORPG will offer six different classes to play as. But for those that wished other classes from base PSO2 to arrive in New Genesis, the good news is more classes are on the way.
Revealed on the fourth Prologue stream for PSO2 NGS, Sega shared what’s the content roadmap after its simultaneous global launch.
The Braver class, which fights with katanas and Bullet Bows, will be the first to arrive post-launch, which the developers expected to arrive in August. The month will also see the addition of a new quest type (Defense Quests) and the ability to change the appearance of Mags (and a system to share Mage Evolution Device from base PSO2 to NGS).
The Bouncer class will be coming sometime in Autumn (Q4) this year with the Summoner class coming sometime in Spring (Q2) next year. Summoners can use Harmonizers from the base game, but can’t carry over Pets to NGS. Though the developers are working on if base PSO2 Pets can work in some other way with PSO2 NGS.
In addition, the developers have hinted that the next class addition after that, the 10th class, will be using Gunblades as their exclusive main weapon. Gunblades are universal weapons for all classes in base PSO2, but this will not be the case in PSO2 NGS.
There is a Gunblade-focused class in base PSO2, the scion class Luster. Though the developers have not confirmed the name like the rest has been on the stream, curiously.
Just like in PSO2, players can switch classes and sub-classes at any time in PSO2 NGS. The six starter classes are already plenty enough but expect the list of playable classes to grow and catch up with the base game with post-launch updates.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will exist alongside base PSO2, with players being able to switch between the two separate games in one client. PSO2 NGS will be released this June, with the global version available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox One.
