Monster Hunter Outlanders is a new Monster Hunter game designed for mobile devices, licensed by Capcom, developed by Timi Studio Group and to be published in Southeast Asia by Garena. Specifically in Malaysia, Singapore and the Phillipines.
There’s no exact release date yet, but the pre-registration page is now open, where sign-ups can gain in-game rewards including Standard Contract x20 and SR Adventurer Raya.
In Monster Hunter Outlanders, players will be hunting monsters in Aesoland, which includes classic, established monsters (Monster Hunter is the one series where fans go crazy when a returning monster, effectively a boss fight, is announced) as well as “Radiant Species” exclusive to Monster Hunter Outlands on top of new monsters.
So far, Rathalos, Anjanath and Kulu-Ya-Ku are confirmed to be included in Monster Hunter Outlanders.
The game loop of Monster Hunter Outlanders is the same co-op hunting loop the series is known for. Go either solo (with a Palico as a partner) or a full group of four hunters, hunt the monster in an open field by making use of various tools including traps and traversal utilities like launchers and ziplines, observe their behaviour before engaging, or just go straight have at them making use of your oversized weapons. Hunts play out in real time, as you’d expect.
The big difference Monster Hunter Outlanders has compared to mainline Monster Hunter games is the use of pre-made characters. It’s a free-to-play mobile game, after all, so you’ll be unlocking Adventurers (like the SR rated Adventurer Raya, pictured above, that pre-registered players will have access to) with a specific moveset and weapons instead of making your own custom Hunter with access to all the different weapon types. Raya, for example, is a Dual Blades user.
Also, if you prefer a different “buddy” than a bipedal feline that is a Palico, Monster Hunter Outlanders offer two other options: a Trillan (a birdlike creature native to Aesoland) and a Rutaco (a simian creature, also native to Aesoland i.e. new to the series introduced first here in this game.)
And on top of that, Monster Hunter Outlanders has a simplified control for mobile. Combos that require multiple button presses are a one-button thing here.
Monster Hunter fans continue to be eating good, as Capcom also announced a new expansion to last year’s Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascension. Monster Hunter Outlanders might be a curiosity for existing fans, but should be something interesting for mobile-only gamers who haven’t experience the thrill of the hunt, which are effectively boss fights.
Monster Hunter Outlanders hasn’t locked in a specific release date or release window yet for its Southeast Asian launch.
