Uniqlo has announced the second Pokémon UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection to commemorate Pokémon’s 30th year celebration.
This second wave of T-shirts for men and kids will go be available at all Uniqlo stores in Malaysia as well as the online store.
For this second wave, the 8 new tees (4 for men, 4 for kids) are inspired by Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, the original first generation of the monster collecting and battling RPG. The designs of the T-shirts in this UT Collection makes use of the original sprites as they were presented on the original Game Boy, so it’s mostly monochromatic. All white, black and grey and the various shades in between.
The kids tees do have some colour, however.
Gen-1 Pokémon featured on this Pokémon UT Collection includes Mew and Mewtwo, the eight Pokémon of Gym Leaders in Red and Blue and of course, Pikachu. The OG Pikachu, in particular, the more rotund design that was used before it had its now-iconic cutesy proportions.

The special intro video paid extra attention by making use of having the music only play in mono, replicating the teeny audio capabilities of Nintendo’s landmark portable game console.
Pricing-wise, the second Pokémon UT Collection T-shirts starts at RM59.90 for men, and RM39.90 for kids. Sizes 110, XS, XXL, 3XL and 3XL are only available via the online store.
Uniqlo’s UT Collection has regularly offered T-shirts based on gaming and anime properties.
