Dinosaur Polo Club, the New Zealand-based indie developer behind traffic management sim/puzzler Mini Motorways has announced that the Nintendo Switch port to the Apple Arcade and PC game is still on its way. And it will have one neat feature: cross-save.
Mini Motorways on Switch will sync your saves from the PC version (currently only available on Steam) that is saved on the Steam Cloud.
UPDATE 17/03/22: The previous version of this article states that this is a continuous sync between the PC and Switch version. A Dinosaur Polo Club representative has clarified that this is instead a one-time sync between Steam Cloud and Nintendo Switch.
However, this means that the Switch release is further delayed, now targeting a Q2 2022 release.
Still, expect “extra surprise goodies” to come alongside the Switch port launch. If it’s anything similar to the PC release, then expect some new features and content that will be available on all other existing platforms.
Also, the devs announced that Mini Motorways have now been played by nearly four million players across Apple Arcade and Switch. That’s a ridiculous amount of players, especially for a small indie game like this, but serves as an example that there is an audience for such games like this.
Mini Motorways tasks you to connect homes to various destinations, plopping randomly overtime. Maps are based on real-life cities like Los Angeles and Tokyo, but you have to figure out what’s the best way to connect these dots together and ensure smooth traffic flow using traffic lights, roundabouts, the titular motorways (highways as we call it here), and the power to remove roads at will.
Mini Motorways is good fun in short sessions. You can find our review of the PC release here.
