Minecraft has yet to roll out this year’s Caves And Cliffs content update, but there’s already something cooking up for next year’s content update.
Version 1.19, titled The Wild update, will be improving existing biomes with new trees, blocks and mobs.
The Deep Dark biome, originally planned for Caves And Cliffs, is moved to this update, and the new look shown at Minecraft Live 2021 shows it’s more than just caves. It’s an underground lost city.
There are more Sculk related blocks. Sculk Catalyst is a new block that spreads skulk goop on adjacent tiles, based on the XP of mobs that died nearby. Sculk Shreiker blocks emits a loud scream when activated, and can also darken your vision.
The Warden, also first revealed for Caves And Cliffs that resides in the deep dark, is also moved to The Wild update. With the new Sculk blocks, fighting the new mob is going to be tricky. And maybe a bit scary for the younger players.
As for proper new stuff, The Wild will be updating on existing biomes. The Birch Forest biome will see taller trees and more flowers growing underneath. While the Swamp will see an overhaul. Chests can be put on boats. Wider rivers. There’s also a new mangrove tree that can underwater (as well as on land), with vines and roots emerging on a fully grown tree. And yes, there’s also the new mangrove wood type.
There’s also a new mangrove swamp biome, dedicated to the new tree.
There’s also mud and clay blocks. Existing dirt blocks that get wet can turn into the new mud blocks. If you put it on top of a drip stone, all the water will be sucked out, turning the mud block into clay. Additionally, there’s also the new mud bricks.
For mobs, frogs and fireflies will be populating the new swamp biomes. There are also baby frogs, tadpoles, that will be swimming in the water that can be picked up with a bucket. Depending where the tadpoles grow in, they will grow into three different frog variants- the tropical, snowy and normal frog.
The Wild Update, will be coming to Minecraft in 2022.
The Minecraft Live 2021 event also see the announcement of Minecraft coming to Xbox Game Pass on PC– both the Java and Bedrock editions.
