Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director For Dragon Age: Inquisition, Now Working At Ubisoft Quebec

Ubisoft Quebec, which recently led the development for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, has secured a big talent. Mike Laidlaw is now working at the studio in a new, unannounced project.

Laidlaw has spent most of his career at Bioware and mostly known for his work in the Dragon Age series. He was the Creative Director of 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition. He left Bioware last year and has been on a creative consultant role in various games. This includes The Waylanders and a new project at Ubisoft Quebec.

He has been involved with this unannounced project for nine months prior to joining the team proper.

Ubisoft Quebec is also expanding, with over 200 job positions and are opening a second site.

Given Laidlaw’s pedigree in RPGs, and the Assassin’s Creed series going towards being more RPG than ever, might we see a full-blown new RPG IP from Ubisoft? That’s us wishfully thinking, but any new project from the successful team is worth paying attention to.
