The Game Awards 2023 featured a curious trailer for an upcoming game featuring mechas. Mecha Break is developed by Amazing Seasun, as the Steam page says. Information about Amazing Seasun is sparse, however, there is an established developer named Seasun Games, developers of Snowbreak: Containment Zone and Dawnlands. And there’s one report of their Tokyo Game Show 2023 presence where they are called Amazing Seasun, implying these two are the same developer.
Back to Mecha Break, the game features team-based mulitplayer modes where a team of three or six have to fight against an opposing team. Mechas range from high-speed flyers with fast dodges that will remind you of Armored Core For Answer, to static bastions that can blast way-too-many homing missiles.
Since the reveal trailer, there’s now gameplay trailer showing the moment-to-moment gameplay for the tutorial. The UI should really be familiar to Armored Core VI players. And it has most of the stuff you’d expect from a mecha game of this scale. Like giant boss battles.
The mechas in Mecha Break is somewhat customisable. It can be recoloured and parts can be swapped out. Though interestingly there’s also pre-defined pilots for the pre-defined mechas.
Mecha Break will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). A closed alpha test is coming soon, which players can register their interest by filling in this survey here.
