Lenovo Starts Investing Into e-Sports By Sponsoring Two Major Tournaments In Southeast Asia

Lenovo is breaking grounds with today’s announcement at the Lenovo Game On event at Plaza Low Yat today. Lenovo will now start sponsoring e-sports events around Southeast Asia. Seeing the dramatic growth of the gaming market in Asia-Pacific, especially in Malaysia, Lenovo is betting on investing into the gaming market via e-sports sponsorships.

As such, Lenovo just announced that they will be partnering with Microsoft in sponsoring the ESL One Genting, a premier Dota 2 tournament organised by the ESL happening this January. Being joint platinum sponsors, expect to see a lot of Lenovo gear on stage. Lenovo is also sponsoring the League Of Champions, a regional tournament for League Of Legends in partnership with Garena and Intel. A prize pool of $15,000 USD is up for grabs, with the finals be held in Thailand. More info of this tournament can be found on Lenovo Malaysia’s Facebook page.

When asked if there will be more games and tournaments they will invest on in the future, Lenovo representatives said they are open to any new game and event for sponsorship to keep the e-sports scene happening.

The more you invest back in building up gamer retention through competitive games, the bigger the gamer market will be in the future. Plus, having more eyeballs looking at Lenovo and it’s products will help them sell more products. Good to see even more PC manufacturers jumping into e-sports and help it grow further. More power and opportunity to us gamers in the end.
