2K has announced that the upcoming racing game by Visual Concepts, Lego 2K Drive, will have a Season Pass, or rather a battle pass, called the Drive Pass.
The Drive Pass has two different tracks, the free Drive Pass and Premium Drive Pass.
The Premium Drive Pass, available per season or as a Year 1 Drive Pass, will include new vehicles from car manufacturers. Season 1 will see at least one car from Dodge and Nissan.
Lego 2K Drive features the McLaren F1 and McLaren Solus GT, two real-life cars that have been Lego-fied as a Lego Speed Champions set.
(The McLaren Solus GT, interestingly, is based on the design of the McLaren Vision Gran Turismo. So this is a Lego version of a real car that started out as an exclusive car for a video game. That is now on the cover of another video game.)
Dodge and Nissan, coincidentally, have been featured in previous years of the Lego Speed Champions set. The Dodge Charger appeared in two different sets (one includes a drag car), and Nissan has had a GT-R Nismo available.
And coincidentally, again, there is a Fast & Furious version of the Dodge Charger R/T and the Nissan Skyline GT-R, different sets from the previously mentioned, recently released in the Lego Speed Champions line.
Is this a hint of a potential Fast & Furious tie-in? Probably. But if it’s not, then it’s likely the normal Charger and GT-R sets that will be coming to Lego 2K Drive post-launch. Which is still pretty cool to see.
How Lego 2K Drive Drive Pass Works
Lego 2K Drive will have at least one year of post-launch support, split into four seasons.
Season 1 will begin in June, a month after the game’s launch, with the next seasons starting in Fall 2023, Winter 2023 and Spring 2024 respectively.
The Drive Pass has new challenges and 100 levels per season. Free Drive Pass rewards include new drivers, stickers, flairs, sounds and more.
The Drive Pass seasons aren’t time-limited, so you are free to play through the seasons at any time at your own pace.
Purchasing the Premium Drive Pass will automatically unlock all rewards up to the current level you are in the respective free Drive Pass seasons.
The upcoming cars from Dodge and Nissan are part of the Premium Drive Pass.
The Year 1 Drive Pass also include the Awesome Pizza Vehicle and 550 coins to be spent in the in-game store, Unkie’s Emporium.
Also, there will be one new additional biome added to the game during the first year, free for all players.
Lego 2K Drive will be out on May 19 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
