Cyberpunk 2077 is still not out yet, but at least today we have a new gameplay trailer. This five minutes trailer is a gameplay overview where the narrator explains what to expect from CD Projekt Red’s upcoming open-world RPG.
The trailer shows off more menus- including a glimpse of a tech tree of sorts and cyberwar. It also shows some side-activities you can partake in. Fancy going on a roller coaster ride?
It also explains something you might have pieced together so far if you followed the Cyberpunk news- the role of the rockerboy Johnny Silverhand.
We know that Johnny, played by Keanu Reeves, isn’t supposed to live in 2077, and will be a pivotal part of the story. But now we know more, maybe more than we should ahead of the game release.
Your playable, customisable character V attempted a big job gone wrong, and has now implanted a biochip that contains the digitised soul of Johnny. And now Johnny wants revenge against the corporations, and the corporations wants to get back what’s theirs. This will be the crux of the main plotline, but you will still be able to enjoy a life in Night City as a mercenary for hire.
Johnny seems to be playable in certain parts of the game as well. Or at least, you’ll see the world in Johnny’s perspective in more than a handful of times.
Cyberpunk 2077 releases (hopefully) on December 10 for the PS4, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), Xbox One and Stadia. A free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will be coming in the future.
