The idea of using gun recoils to enhance movement may seem unrealistic, but it is absolutely rad. So what if there’s a game that restricts your movement entirely by your gun’s recoil?
That’s what Kickback is doing. Developed by Dot Blood and published by Targem Games, this biopunk top-down shooter with rougelike elements has you gun down mutants, and each gun shot kicks you back. So you have to juggle your shots to shoot enemies, to move around, and ideally do both at the same time.

If you think that concept is rad, then why not try Kickback’s demo. It is available now as part of Steam Next Fest.
Also, the graphics may seem simple, but there’s an artistic flair to those 8-bit-ish looking sprites that scream like it’s a heavy metal album.
If you like top-down shooter with one cool mechanic, you might also be interested in Deflect Boy, a top-down shooter but you have no guns, only a deflecting shield.
Kickback will be out on PC (Steam).
