While Sony may not have plans to support backwards compatibility like Microsoft has been doing, they have made a few PS2 games available on PS4. The PS2-on-PS4 games are upscaled for 1080p and add features an ordinary PS4 title would have like trophies, share play, remote play and live broadcasting support. While the library isn’t that many- Gamespot has a list of games here– curiously Asia’s PS Store has been missing out from all these titles for the past two years, until now.
Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Naughty Dog’s first PS2 game, is now out on PSN for all regions, including Asia. It is a pre-order/early purchase bonus for the developer’s latest title, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. It can also be purchased separately for RM65.
This is certainly good to see, but will it set a precedent for all the other PS2-on-PS4 games to arrive in Asia’s PS Store? We don’t know. The quality is a bit questionable for some of titles, with rendering glitches and errors, which explains why we don’t see a big library or demand for these. But if you’re planning to get Uncharted: The Lost Legacy early, it’s a neat bonus.
