Inzoi, Krafton’s new life sim (i.e. competitor to The Sims), has been with strong support for its Early Access release as the publisher announced it has sold a million copies.
Inzoi’s Early Access release is available only on Steam, and the game went from the No. 1 Top Wishlist game on the platform right before release, to the No. 1 Global Top Sellers list by sales revenue in just 40 minutes of release, with strong sales in North America and Asia regions.
“We are grateful and excited to present Inzoi to players around the world through Early Access,” said Krafton CEO CH Kim, “We will continue to actively communicate with players and foster Inzoi as Krafton’s long-term franchise IP.”
Inzoi is the first of a wave of up-and-coming The Sims competitors. EA’s genre-defining series from 20 years ago is the de facto market leader, for better or worse. So it’s about time we have some proper competition.
Life By You would’ve been the first of this new wave. Developed by a new studio at Paradox led by long-time producer of The Sims series, the game was unceremoniously cancelled and the development studio, Paradox Tectonic, closed.
This series of events definitely gave Inzoi more momentum. The life sim brings in more production value with its uncanny Zois players can customise and more realistic graphics rendering. The game also addresses specific shortcomings seen in The Sims 4. In Inzoi, you can own cars and directly control a character, among other new features.
Krafton promises all updates and DLCs for Inzoi during this Early Access phase will be free. Life sims are plagued by the endless array of paid DLC releases, so at least Inzoi won’t give players that same annoying feeling for now.
