Weird West, the top-down immersive sim and action RPG by WolfEye Studios, now has a release date. This is the indie team’s debut title, founded by the veterans from Arkane Studios (Prey, Dishonored), including co-founder Raphael Colantonio.
The new trailer for Weird West sees Colantonio himself explains what Weird West is about. It’s an action RPG set in a supernatural-tinge wild west, with 5 playable characters where their stories will intersect. The trailer promises over 40 hours worth of content.
The trailer should make immersive sim fans comfy despite not having a first-person perspective. You can play it stealth featuring the good old “lure the enemy by throwing a bottle then grab them from behind” trick, and then hide their lootable bodies.
You can also play it loud, turning it into a twin-stick shooter but with supernatural cowboy. Ever want to play a western game with teleportation powers like in Dishonored? You get to do that too.
And yes, there’s a kick button.
The top-down perspective and RPG elements should also make Weird West be closer to the Divinity Original Sin series as well. That CRPG series also have highly interactive systems, like how water and fire can spread.
Weird West is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One on January 11. On Steam for Asia, it will be one day later at January 12.
