In Override: Mech City Brawl, Mechs Battle While The City Around It Crumbles

Features four-player split-screen multiplayer

So we have games about mechs golfing and destroying the city. And a game about a mech delivering pizzas while destorying a city. But what about a game about mechs.. battle other mechs while the city around it become destroyed?

Override: Mech City Brawl is exactly that. Two to four giant robots tower over a city, punching, shooting and boosting, destroying the city on its path. Developed by The Balance Inc. and published by Modus Games, they have put themselves on the map thanks to the pitch of this game alone.

And it looks glorious too. It definitely has the vibes of the PS2 classic War Of The Monsters but with mechs. It seems to play like a 3D arena fighter, but it’s not necessarily similar to Virtual-On or Armored Core. The varied roster of mechs- from a slinky retro robot to a Grimlock from Transformers homage- all have different arsenals, including good old punching. There will be 12 of them at launch, each has many visual customisations.

The game supports up to four player split-screen for local multiplayer battles, including a gimmicky co-op mode where each player control each limb ala Octodad. There are 1V1 fights, 2V2 team brawls and four player free-for-all. Online multiplayer will be available soon, with a beta set for next month. Sign-ups can be found here. Single-player campaign is also available.

Looks promising! And who doesn’t dig giant robots?

Override: Mech City Brawls will be available on December 4th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
