Horizon Forbidden West Launches On February 18, 2022

Guerilla’s follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, was aimed for a late 2021 release. But at the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021 broadcast, that will not be the case.

Game Director Mathijs de Jonge announced that Horizon Forbidden West now has the target release date of February 18, 2022.

“It’s no surprise that our teams were hugely impacted by the global pandemic,” de Jonge said on the broadcast, with a written form also posted on the PlayStation Blog. “We have been adjusting to new workflows, protocols, and other challenges, while keeping our teams safe and prioritizing a healthy work/life balance.”

Aloy’s upcoming adventures as she ventures into the post-apocalypse remnants of western USA is still slated to be released on PS4 and PS5. The extra time should give more time for Guerilla to polish the game- time which is required more than ever before as teams are adjusting to working during this pandemic.

On the bright side, there will be only one “Horizon” game coming later this year. But February 2022 looks to be packed already with the kung-fu fighting game Sifu and Deep Silver Volition’s Saints Row reboot just announced to be released in the same month.
