The new State Of Play broadcast has showcased 14 minutes of gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West. But it did started with about 5 hours of countdown to the reveal.
Anyway, for those excited for Aloy and the Magical AirPod 2, the new gameplay shows off what to expect in the sequel. It’s familiar, but with a much lush setting (the area we seen here is future San Francisco), and Aloy has some new tools up her sleeves.
Her Focus (that magical AirPod thing we like to make fun of) now can scan and highlight places in the environment where she can climb to. The Pullcaster is essentially the Swingshot from the Ratchet & Clank series, which lets Aloy pull herself towards a grappling point. She also has a Diving Mask, that lets her breathe underwater to explore under the sea. And there’s the Shieldwing, which lets her glide from high places and slowly (safely) descend down.
Horizon isn’t really about direct combat, but Aloy’s melee moves with the spear has also gotten some improvements too, including what looks like a flashy ultimate attack.
The gameplay video shows Aloy rescuing a familiar face, while facing a new enemy tribe, a tribe that has also the knowledge to override the robo-creatures, something Aloy can only do before.
Horizon Forbidden West is coming to the PS4 and PS5, but no release date has been officially revealed yet.
