Here’s The Team Lineup For The Overwatch World Cup

The voting session for the Overwatch World Cup is over and now we have the team lineups confirmed for all participating countries. The exhibition showdown of the top community members- including pro players and streamers- will be the highlight event at Blizzcon this November, but only 16 nations (except those that somehow got automatic qualification) will be competing for a spot.

Here’s a look at the more interesting teams to watch out for, including the teams already qualified, and of course, Team Malaysia.

TEAM USA

No surprise that popular streamer slash main DPS for NRG e-Sports Seagull got top call. Talespin of Team EnVyUs is renowned for his Pharah plays, and Adam of Cloud9 is one of the best support mains out there. Ster? Despite being a streamer and YouTuber, he is competitively sound, reaching top 500 last season and even casted for the ESL Overwatch Atlantic Showdown.

Captain’s pick of Gods, Seagull’s teammate and DPS, with MESR, the tanker for Team Liquid should round out team USA to be one to watch

TEAM CANADA

Cloud9’s Surefour leads the charge here. iid plays for Team Liquid. The rest are community members except for HuK, a caster for Overwatch, last seen in the ESL Overwatch Atlantic showdown.

TEAM BRAZIL

No notable names, though it is more because the Brazilian scene is not as widely known. With them gaining automatic qualification, we will see if they can make themselves known in the eyes of the world.

TEAM CHINA

Again, no much is known yet, but the Asian teams have a mystique going on for them- the rest of the world are waiting for them to burst in the scene and be a major player in the world of Overwatch e-sports.

TEAM SOUTH KOREA

Same as above.

TEAM ANZ (AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND)

Led by YouTuber/streamer Muselk, team ANZ has a few pros from the ANZ scene, notably Refz and yuki from Tempo Storm- the top team in the region.

TEAM SWEDEN

One of the most stacked lineups, filled with talented pros. Led by iddqd of Fnatic, with Zave of Luminosity, chipshajen and Cocco of Team EnVyUs, zebbosai from Misfits, and TviQ from Rogue, this is a dream team of a lineup. Would be surprising if Sweden failed to qualify.

TEAM FINLAND

Another stacked lineup, mostly made up of Ninjas in Pajamas- an all-Finland team. Zappis of Ninjas in Pajamas lead the team, with Taimou of Team EnVyUs, Mafu and Hymzi (Ninjas in Pajamas), Linkzr (Team Dignitas) and Kurp.

TEAM RUSSIA

Rubikon and Cyper of Team ANOX leads the charge. REUNITED’s Unfixed and FaZe Clan’s Shadownburn are also key players in the Russian roster.

TEAM GREAT BRITAIN

A team with a YouTuber streamer in the captain’s seat. Stylosa of Unit Lost leads team GB, with fellow YouTuber OneAmongstMany who is seen mostly as a support player. Pro players did make into the list, with Team Dignatas’ tanker numlocked, and REUNITED’s Kruise probably carrying the team.

TEAM BENELUX (BELGIUM, NETHERLANDS & LUXEMBOURG)

Screenshot (219)

Well, TwoEasy of FaZe Clan barely made it to the votings. Oh, and you can see why the team captain is a no brainer vote for folks of these three countries.

TEAM FRANCE

French YouTuber AlphaCast made it on top of the votings, but a good call on him to bring Rouge’s KnOxx and Misfits’ Kryw onboard with melty e-Sports’ DeGuN to help carry the team.

TEAM MALAYSIA

Looks like a good lineup. Hopefully they can snatch a win or two in the online qualifiers. Go Team Malaysia!

This September will see the online qualifiers starting. It will be a best of three, single elimination format. Six teams from Europe, six from Asia-Pacific and four teams from the Americas will meet at Blizzcon for the main event, a LAN finals with a round-robin group stage and a single elimination finals.

Best of luck to participating players representing their country. Make your nation proud!
