Hell Is Us Announced, New Action-Adventure Game Led By Deus Ex Veteran

Nacon announced Hell Is Us, a new game and IP from developers Rogue Factor. This third-person action-adventure title with a “semi-open world” is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and has Jonathan Jacques-Belletête as its creative director.

Jacques-Belletête previously worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy at Eidos Montreal.

Hell Is Us is set in an isolated country in civil war. Though recently supernatural creatures “resembling ancient headstones and monuments” have been sighted. The currently unnamed main character will be set out on an adventure to learn more about his past, and is equipped with weapons to fight these creatures, which include a drone and a really big sword.

Also, Hell Is Us really wants to live up to the “adventure” part of the action-adventure tag, as the game will require players to explore and find information on their own.

“Our goal with Hell is Us is to bring back true adventure and exploration,” said Jacques-Belletête. “There’s no need for a detailed quest log or precise waypoint on the map: we want players to feel the thrill of adventure, guided by their feelings and instincts.”

Rogue Factor previously made Mordheim: City Of The Damned and Necromunda: Underhive Wars, both being strategy games and adaption of a tabletop game based on Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 respectively. Which makes Hell Is Us, an action-adventure title with a veteran developer helming the project, quite the ambitious leap for the developer.

Hell Is Us is aiming for a 2023 release and will be coming to PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
