Had An Issue Logging Into Gran Turismo Sport Recently? It Was Mistaken For A Potential Cyberattack

It’s the season holidays and what more can be worse than a game not working due to online issues. If you are playing Gran Turismo Sport recently, you might notice that the game suffered from some server issues.

The timing is unfortunate. This is when more people would probably get the game in time for Christmas, plus a new content update was just being added featuring 12 new cars, 1 new track layout and a proper campaign mode like previous GT games.

The issue has now been fixed, and the team at Polyphony Digital has made a statement about it. The team was aware of the login problems where it affects some people- should you managed to login, it should be smooth sailing from there. Polyphony then contacted the PSN team to resolve this issue, which is on their end.

“The cause of the issue was that the unexpectedly large numbers of user network traffic had been mistakenly identified as an attack on the PlayStation™Network, and the login attempts were blocked by the system,” the statement from Polyphony reads.

Sony has suffered big issues regarding its Playstation Network. The online service went completely offline in 2011 for 23 days thanks to a security intrusion. The Christmas of 2014 saw hacker group Lizard Squad launching a crippling distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack on PSN, which caused a one day outage.

While it is unfortunate to GT Sport players to again suffer from network issues which last seen during the first week of launch, it is good to know that Sony has taken precautions to avoid another cyberattack from happening.
