Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, the new revamped version of Cygames and Arc System Works’ Granblue Fantasy Versus, now has a release date.
Announced at Evo 2023, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will inlcude three editions, a standard edition, a Deluxe Edition with in-game bonuses which inlcudes the Deluxe Character Pass Part 1, and, curiously, a Free Edition.
The Free Edition includes the following content:
- Four playable characters
- Part 1 of story mode
- Access to only matches and Lobby, including Grand Bruise Legends
- some features unavailable
The Free Edition should be considered a very, very generous demo in a way. You don’t get the full story mode and access is limited to four characters, but the fact that you can go online still is quite the selling point, and should give curious players ample time to decide if they should purchase the full game.

GBVSR is a 2D anime fighting game based on Cygames’ hit mobile RPG/gacha IP. This is one of the many modern fighting games that have embraced simpler inputs and special moves done with a button press (though technical motion inputs are still available for veteran fighting game players).
GBVSR includes an Arcade Mode, a Story Mode, new Training Mode options and the ability to select a Partner to be a guide and cheerleader during fights. Plus, the online lobby includes Grand Bruise Legends, a silly party battle mode to take a breather in between intense fighting game matches.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising releases on November 30 for the PS4, PS5 and PC (Steam).
