Indie developers Pine Studio has announced their next game, The Academy: The First Riddle. It’s a puzzle adventurer that takes inspiration from the Harry Potter series and Level 5’s Professor Layton series of puzzlers.
And boy, does the game where its inspirations on their sleeves. You play as Sam, a freshman of the famed but mysterious Academy, who happens to wear a red jumpsuit and has two friends- one a redhead the other have glasses.
It will be a 20-hour adventure spanning over 200 puzzles and riddles around campus. The Academy itself looks nice, inspired by architecture from the developers’ home city of Zagreb, Croatia.
The Academy: The First Riddle is aiming to capture the spirit of being a kid, where adventure lies around every corner. It’s something both the Harry Potter and Professor Layton series have done well in their own ways, so to see a developer taking elements of the two and make their own spin sounds rather promising.
The Academy: The First Riddle will be out on June 19 on PC and Mac via Steam, and also on mobile (iOS, Android). The game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this summer.
