Genshin Impact, Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Among Most Tweeted About Games In Malaysia For 2021

Twitter continues to be one of the destinations for gaming discourse, as the social app announced that over 2.4 billion tweets in 2021 were about gaming.

Twitter users from Southeast Asian countries including Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia are among the top 10 to be tweeting about gaming globally in 2021.

Globally, Mihoyo’s free-to-play open-world RPG and gacha game Genshin Impact is the top tweeted game in 2021 followed by Apex Legends, Ensemble Stars (a free-to-play idol training rhythm game) and the Final Fantasy series.

Here’s the full list of the top 10 most tweeted games in 2021:

  10. Fortnite (@fortnitegame)

Seven of the games on this list are free-to-play, though the Final Fantasy series also offers free-to-play titles.

Twitter also revealed the top 10 most tweeted about games in Malaysia. No surprise to see Genshin remains at the top of this localised list, but interestingly, Ember Lab’s indie action-adventure title Kena: Bridge Of Spirits sits on number 2.

We like to think that there’s a good number of Malaysians are really loving the developer’s debut title available now on PS5 and PC. Maybe the Malay pun about how Kena hits the spot (“Kena dengan jiwa”) really has some truth to it.

Also, Malaysia Twitter is really big on Roblox. Not only is Roblox itself is on No.3, but a game within Roblox, Royale High, is number 10 on the list.
