On PAX East 2019, developers Gearbox Software and publishers Gearbox Publishing, will hold a panel called the Gearbox Main Theater Show. The description on the site mentioned “never-before-seen reveals, exclusives, and surprises”.
Ever since that, the official Twitter for Gearbox has been tweeting more Borderlands-related content than usual. But nothing out of ordinary.
But the biggest of tease has been dropped. The panel date with a barren landscape. And the word “Exit 3” at the top. It could not be obvious enough. All signs point to Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3 is an open secret by now. We know it exists- Gearbox showed off some Unreal tech openly a few years back. But what’s exciting is that this will be the first entry for the original looter-shooter in a post-Destiny world, which has opened the doors for live service multiplayer looter-shooter for better or worse.
Borderlands 1, 2 and The Pre-Sequel all have great campaigns that are fun with up to four players, but will Borderlands 3 embrace the online-only nature of modern looter-shooters? Or will they stick to their (bazillion) guns and follow the old formula? We’ll have to see and find out soon enough.
