Tekken 7 hype for its console release is getting up there and the Malaysian Fighting Game Community is feeling it. This year’s FV Cup will feature a Tekken 7 tournament, but to enter that you need to go through a series of qualifier events first. The format is pretty similar to the FV Amateur Cup.
There are 8 events for the Tekken 7 qualifiers. Four of them will based on vanilla Tekken 7 on the arcades. This will be held at Summit USJ.
The dates are Febuary 19th, March 19th, April 23rd and May 21st.
The other 4 will be done once Tekken 7 releases on consoles. The console release, which is based on the Fated Retribution update on arcades. From here the game will be played on PS4s at Geek Empire Dagang Avenue.
The dates for that are June 25th, July 30th, Aug 27th and Sep 17th.
Each qualifier awards points to an overall leaderboard for the top 8 placements. The points distribution is as follows:
1st = 10 point
2nd = 8 point
3rd = 6 point
4th = 4 point
5th = 2 point (2 positions)
7th = 1 point (2 positions)
Top three placements at each qualifier event will also get prizes, which are:
Champion: Gaming headset (Alcatroz/Armaggeddon) and medal
Runner-up: Gaming mouse (Alcatroz/Armaggeddon) and medal
3rd place: Gaming mouse (Alcatroz/Armaggeddon) and medal
Top 8 in the overall leaderboard will be competing in the main event at FV Cup, alongside 8 others that will be from other Southeast Asia countries which have their own set of qualifiers.
The prize for taking the big win here? A sponsored trip to EVO Japan 2018. The top three will be awarded handsomely as well. Here’s the full prize list:
Champion: Fully funded trip to join EVO Japan 2018 (Return Air Ticket, Accomodation, USD500 pocket money) and Tekken Championship Belt
Runner-up: RM1000 cash+ ViewSonic monitor + Armaggeddon/Alcatroz gaming kit ( gaming headset, gaming keyboard, gaming mouse) and Trophy
3rd place: RM500 cash + ViewSonic monitor + Armaggeddon/Alcatroz gaming kit ( gaming headset, gaming keyboard, gaming mouse) and Trophy

Registration for the qualifiers is RM30 per event. But for those that made the Top 8 and qualify for the main event, that will be free to enter. Check the Malaysian Fighting Game Facebook page for more info plus when and where to register.
We have some top talents when it comes to Tekken 7. Last year, local player Arenz made his way to finish second at the Tekken 7 King Of Iron Fist Tournament SEA Qualifiers. He also went on to qualify for the Grand Final in Japan as well. But maybe this year we will see more local players shine in the King Of Iron Fist Tournament.
