Black Desert is free right now on Steam. Grab it now and claim it forever. Black Desert only has an optional subscription, so you’re good to go from here.
But also note that you will need to create a new account for Black Desert on Steam. As in, if you already signed up for an account on the Black Desert site, you can’t use that.
Also, accounts on Steam and on the standalone launcher are separate and cannot be transferred, unfortunately. That said, both versions are in parity with each other in terms of updates.
In other news, the closed beta of Shadow Arena, a battle royale-like standalone game using Black Desert’s combat mechanics, is currently underway.
