Here’s a small but big news for the upcoming open world racing game Forza Horizon 6: There will be cross-play and cross-save across all platforms.
This is technically already been known for some time via the game’s FAQ page, but previously it only stated that Forza Horizon 6 has cross-play and cross-save with PC and consoles, not specifically stating if it covers PlayStation.
A new social post, and an updated FAQ page, spells it out clearly. For the first time in the series, Forza Horizon 6 lets you play with anyone, anywhere with the same progression carried over on all platform, as it should.
Previously in Forza Horizon 5, the game featured cross-play but not cross-save. While you can play with anyone regardless of platform, switching to a different platform means you have to restart with a new save on each platform.
With full cross-play and cross-save, this means you can opt to purchase the Steam or Xbox copy of Forza Horizon 6, play a bit, and then purchase the PS5 version (which is coming slightly later than the other platforms) and just carry on your Forza Horizon adventure on there, picking up where you left off. More reasons to double, or even triple, drip, should you play on multiple platforms.
Forza Horizon 6 takes the open world racing game to the locale just about every fan wants the series to go to: Japan. Expect twisty mountain switchbacks in the countryside, dense populated cities (something the series isn’t good at doing, but this title shows promise with more elevated highways) and a more back-to-basics progression where you start as just a tourist who then make their way into the Horizon Festival, unlocking new cars and even areas as they rise up the ranks collecting wristbands.
Forza Horizon 6 launches on May for the PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S, and later this year for PS5.
