The next series update for Forza Horizon 5 will bring a good handful of new cars, but one of them will stand out the most. At the recent Forza Horizon 5: Let’s ¡Go! stream, it’s revealed that the Nissan Tsuru is heading to Mexico.
Mostly known as the Nissan Sentra in other parts of the world, the Nissan Tsuru, as it’s called in Mexico, is one of the iconic cars in the country. It became the taxi car, replacing the Volkswagen Beetle.
The vocho got a lot of love, with a dedicated story mode celebrating its cultural significance to Mexico and Mexicans, so it’s been seen as a odd omission that the other iconic Mexican car (it is build locally) to not be there as well.
The Nissan Tsuru is the most requested car to be added in Forza Horizon 5. Forza has its forums for car suggestions and internally keeps track of the number of requests made. But that’s not all. There was an online change.org petition to include the Tsuru in Forza Horizon 5 back in 2021, with more than 36,000 signatures asking for its inclusion.
The one set to appear in Forza Horizon 5 is the third generation Sentra/Tsuru, model year 2010. It can be turned into a taxi (a hood part adds the signage ornament to the top of the roof). And it includes 13 engine swap options.
Chris Phillips, vehicle director for Forza Horizon 5, gives an explanation on why the devs took this long to include what is, in his words, “the most requested car in Forza’s history”.
“Cars like this, you’d think [are] incredibly easy to source because they’re so common. But we have quite high standards for our sourcing. We look for pristine cars. And it’s the kind of car that people don’t keep pristine. I don’t mean that in a kind of negative way. These are cars people use. These are everyday cars. Very practical cars.
“So it took awhile for us to track one down. They’re only available in Mexico which complicates that even further. But we wanted one, we heard the community, so we’ve been trying very hard to get this in all its glory.”
The Nissan Tsuru is part of the Dia de Muertos Festival Playlist series, available to be unlocked from October 12-19. The car will also be a new starter option for The Eliminator, the battle royale game mode.
