Final Fantasy XV’s Online Multiplayer Will Get A Beta Test

One of the promised content for Final Fantasy XV’s season pass is an online co-op multiplayer mode. Game Director Hajime Tabata has spoken before he envisioned the multiplayer mode would be, with the inclusion of custom avatars.

To prepare for the online multiplayer mode, titled Comrades, a beta test will be conducted which is expected to run from August 3 to August 8. Only season pass owners with a subscription to PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold can join in however.

As expected, you can create your own avatars, and explore the open world with friends. There will be various weapons to wield- some with different attack patterns from how Noctis used in the main game, unique quests and a simplified cooking option.

The full version of the online mode will have more quests gated by the collection of meteorshards, more customisation options, options to use one of the four boys as avatars, the ability to make camp and cook, expanded chat options and more options for taking photos.

No exact date for when the Comrades DLC will be available just yet. The next story DLC, Episode Ignis, is set to release later in December, so it could be a long wait until the online multiplayer mode is ready.
