Final Civilization VI New Frontier Pass DLC Adds Portugal Civ, Zombies

This month will see the last of Civilization VI DLC packs, as part of the New Frontier Pass. The new dev diary video has revealed what it is, and it’s what you’d expect: Portugal.

(Sorry Venice fans)

Portugal previously appeared in Civilization V under the leadership of Maria I. Developers Firaxis is not revealing who will be Portugal’s leader in Civ VI just yet. But we can expect to see the usual civ breakdown in their first look video coming soon.

However, as hinted in the new dev diary, you can expect the Portugal civ will be very naval-focused, reflecting its history of being one of the first to sail the world, and claim lands far, far away.

The DLC will also be adding two new world wonders you can race to build first: Torre de Belém and Etemenanki. It will also add a new map type: Wetlands, which adds more marsh tiles.

Lastly, there’s a new optional mode included in the Portugal Pack- Zombie Defense. Like many of the optional modes, it’s a small twist to the usual Civ game. In this one, units that died may have a chance to respawn again as zombies. And they will chase and attack any non-zombie unit. You can build specific improvements like traps and barricades (unique for Zombie Defense mode).

If you’re feeling cheeky, you can also make use of the zombies to your advantage too. You can allocate turns for city projects that lets you control zombies within your city limits. And once you can do espionage, you can do a spy operation that spawns zombies (instead of rebels) in your enemy’s territory.

The Portugal Zombie Pack, the final paid DLC as part of the New Frontier Pass for Civilization VI, will be released on March 26 on for RM22.
