Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is the upcoming remaster for the 2012 cult hit action RPG, which is dropping this week.
For PC players who have the original game on Steam, THQ Nordic announced on the Steam forums that you will be given a 50% discount for Re-Reckoning.
The discount also applies to the Fate Edition, which includes the new expansion with completely new content set to release in 2021.
The 50% discount, which will last until November, also stacks with the usual 10% early bird discount, so you can get the game at 60% off at launch.
Of course it’s not ideal for PC players having to re-purchase the same game to get the remaster versions made for newer consoles, but this is an outlier where it’s an understandable scenario.
Publisher THQ Nordic isn’t the original publisher for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It was EA who hold the publishing rights, before the IP-reviving lich king purchased the rights. Hence, the existence of this new remaster. And it makes sense for THQ Nordic to ask for money for this- they are not getting money from the original game.
The 50% discount only applies to Steam, and lasts until November. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning launches on September 8 for the PS4, PC (Steam- September 9 in Asia) and Xbox One.
