E3 2018: Dying Light 2 Announced- More Parkour, More Zombies, Now With Decisions That Matter

Polish developers Techland announced Dying Light 2 on the Xbox E3 2018 stage. The parkour-driven open-world first-person adventure game with zombies had strong support, including a drop of 10 free DLCs recently.

The sequel will be a more ambitious undertaking. While still being built on top of the solid gameplay loop, Dying Light 2 will add another wrinkle to the formula: story decisions with consequences.

Chris Avellone, famous for his work in many CRPGs including Fallout 2, Fallout New Vegas, Knights Of The Republic II, Prey and Into The Breach, he will lend his writing chops to the game, acting as the narrative designer. Techland also mentioned to the press that several writers from neighbouring developer CD Projekt RED are also working on the writing, in particular the writers that have done the Bloody Baron quest in The Witcher III, arguably one of the best questlines in a game.

It’s fifteen years since the events of the first game where the zombie outbreak started, and humanity has entered a modern dark age. Multiple factions have now rise vying for power over the one city, and the way you handle and solve each quest directly affects the world.

For example, the trailer shows how you can secure a water tower for the remaining population. Kill the two people guarding the tower and secure it for the Peacekeepers and everyone gets free access to water, but will be subject to the harsh and authoritarian rule where public lynching is the norm. Strike a deal with the water tower guards and you can have them sell the water to the population, which opens more trading options. But the lawlessness will attract more dangerous bandits to scour the cities at day.

Dying Light 2 is set to be released in 2019 for th PS4, PC and Xbox One
