Dune: Awakening Launching On Consoles This September With Solo Play

The spice shall soon flow to consoles, as Funcom announced Dune: Awakening will launch on consoles this September. This was announced during the June 2026 State Of Play broadcast.

The survival MMO, or officially described as “open world survival game,” inspired by the Frank Herbert’s Dune books as well as the movie series by Legendary’s Entertainment and director Denis Villeneuve, will be adding new content alongside the console launch.

The console experience of Dune: Awakening will be in parity with the PC, with some UI optimisation for controller. It’s targeting 60 FPS performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Dune: Awakening will be playable entirely solo should you wish, with difficulty scaled accordingly. The console launch will see the game updated to feature the grand finale of Book One, capping the story to completion.

Since launch, Dune: Awakening has added new content and various quality-of-life changes. Also, PC players can host their own private servers to play only with close friends, which is neat.

The console launch isn’t the end of Dune: Awakening’s development, however, as Funcom teases more updates to come after September, including a whole new survival map.

Dune: Awakening will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on the same date (with Xbox Play Anywhere support). The game is confirmed to launch in Southeast Asia in collaboration with Level Infinite.
