Developer Funcom has announced the release date for its upcoming open world survival game, Dune: Awakening.
Based on the novels penned by Frank Herbert as well as ongoing series of films by Legendary Entertainment, Dune: Awakening adapts the sci-fi desert world of Arrakis.
For players who will be chanting “Dunes dunes dunes dunes” in excitement until Dune: Awakening launches this May, you can get a head start by downloading the character creator.
You can fine tune your character’s looks, pick and home planet, caste and mentor which will determine your starting abilities. No one is stopping you from making a character that can compete in a Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition, if that is your incline.
Also included in the download of the character creator is a benchmarking tool to test if your PC setup can run Dune: Awakening. The stress scenes includes the appearance of the much-loved sandworm.
Funcom is mostly known for their works in the MMO space, from The Secret World to Conan Exiles. In their early days, they are known for the The Longest Journey series of point-and-click adventure games.
Dune: Awakening will launch on May 20 on PC via Steam. The game will be priced at $49.99 USD/Euros (roughly RM221 when converted from USD) but no official price in Malaysian Ringgit or any other regional price has been disclosed yet.
